How Much Does a New Deck Cost in Batesville, AR?

September 02, 20264 min read

If you’re planning a new deck in Batesville or the surrounding area, one of the first questions is usually:

How much is this going to cost?

The answer depends on the size of the deck, the material, how high it sits off the ground, whether it needs stairs or railing, and any demolition or upgrades involved.

At Cornerstone Fence & Deck, our deck pricing generally starts with the square footage and then adjusts based on the design and options selected.

Pressure-Treated Wood Deck Cost

Pressure-treated wood is usually the most affordable option for a new deck.

Our current starting prices are approximately:

  • Low or ground-level pressure-treated deck: around $26 per square foot

  • Raised or elevated pressure-treated deck: around $30 per square foot

For example, a 12' × 16' deck is 192 square feet.

At about $26 per square foot:

192 sq ft × $26 = about $4,992

For a raised version at about $30 per square foot:

192 sq ft × $30 = about $5,760

Those numbers are starting points before railing, stairs, demolition, or other options are added.

Composite Deck Cost

Composite decking costs more upfront than pressure-treated wood, but it requires less ongoing maintenance and is a popular option for homeowners who want a cleaner, more finished look.

Our current starting prices are approximately:

  • Low or ground-level composite deck: around $36 per square foot

  • Raised or elevated composite deck: around $40 per square foot

For the same 12' × 16' deck:

192 sq ft × $36 = about $6,912

For a raised composite deck:

192 sq ft × $40 = about $7,680

How Much Does Deck Railing Cost?

Railing can make a significant difference in the total project price, especially on raised decks.

Typical starting prices include:

  • Wood railing: around $40 per linear foot

  • Trex Enhance composite railing: around $70 per linear foot

  • Aluminum railing: around $90 per linear foot

The amount of railing needed depends on the deck layout, stairs, and which sides require a guardrail.

How Much Do Deck Stairs Cost?

Stairs are typically priced separately because the cost depends heavily on deck height.

A standard set of pressure-treated stairs for a lower deck may start around $600, while taller elevated-deck stairs may be around $1,000 or more.

Composite stairs generally cost more because of the decking and finish materials involved.

What About Deck Demolition?

If an existing deck has to be removed before the new one can be built, demolition adds to the project cost.

Our typical deck demolition pricing is around:

$10 per square foot

For a 200-square-foot existing deck:

200 sq ft × $10 = about $2,000

Actual demolition cost can vary depending on access, deck height, construction, and how difficult the existing structure is to remove.

Example Deck Prices

Here are a few rough examples using our current pricing.

10' × 12' Ground-Level Pressure-Treated Deck

120 square feet × $26:

About $3,120

12' × 16' Ground-Level Pressure-Treated Deck

192 square feet × $26:

About $4,992

12' × 16' Raised Pressure-Treated Deck

192 square feet × $30:

About $5,760

12' × 16' Ground-Level Composite Deck

192 square feet × $36:

About $6,912

12' × 16' Raised Composite Deck

192 square feet × $40:

About $7,680

These examples do not automatically include railing, stairs, demolition, or other upgrades.

What Affects the Cost of a New Deck?

Two decks with the same square footage can still have very different final prices.

Some of the biggest factors include:

  • Overall deck size

  • Pressure-treated wood vs. composite

  • Height above grade

  • Railing type

  • Number and height of stairs

  • Existing deck demolition

  • Yard access

  • Ground conditions

  • Deck shape and layout

  • Additional framing or structural requirements

That’s why square-foot pricing is useful for budgeting, but a site-specific estimate is still the best way to get an exact number.
